How to Finally Reach Your Goals

It's a New Year and everyone is setting new goals and resolutions which is great. I have several goals of my own that I want to work to achieve in 2017. Many of my goals are day to day things that I want to be consistent in doing. I do have some long term goals but I also like to look at small day-by-day goals.

Sometimes reaching a goal can seem difficult. If you are a person like me, who sets your goals really high, they may seem even more difficult to reach. Even though the goals you set might seem difficult to reach at times, they are not impossible. Over the years I have set numerous goals for myself, some of them included; starting my own business, losing weight, starting a blog, graduating from college with a Bachelors and a Master's Degree and even pay off debt.  I have been able to achieve each one of these goals but it wasn't easy.

When I first set these goals I didn't know for sure that I would reach them but I knew I wanted to.Since I knew I really wanted to reach these goals, I put steps into place to help me reach them. Today I am sharing with you the tips I used to help me reach my goals and I hope they will also help you finally reach your goals as well.

Here I'm going to list the top 5 methods I used to help me reach all of the goals I mentioned above. Reaching these goals weren't always easy, and sometimes I had to re-evaluate my method. However, being consistent and sticking to my plan helped me reach all the goal I set for myself.

+ Plan out your goals by writing them down.

The first thing I did when setting out to reach my goals is I wrote the goals down on paper where I could refer back to them often. I also wrote down the reason I wanted to reach these goals for added motivation.

For instance, when I wanted to lose weight I didn't just write "I want to lose weight", instead I'd write "I want to lose weight because I want to be healthier and fit back into my clothes". I find that adding a reason for my goal really helped me stick to the plan I set to reach them.

+ Set a time frame in which you want to achieve your goals.

When setting a goal it is best to give yourself a time frame in which you want to achieve your goal. This helps you to increase the intensity, drive and focus you need to reach the goal. When you simply set a goal but don't have a deadline you may take your time getting there and may even quit too soon. 

+ Take Action.

Once you have set your goal and given yourself a time frame in which you want to achieve it, it is time to take action. Taking action means having a plan that will help you get to your goal. Want to lose 10 pounds by March 1st? Create a workout and healthy eating plan that will help you get there. If you are trying to pay off debt, create a budget to follow that will help you pay off your bills and save more money. Having a plan to help you get to your goal is essential to reaching it.

+ Re-evaluate your goals.

One major thing I did when working to reach my goals is I re-evaluated them often. Every once in a while, I find it's important to look at your goals and see how you are doing on the journey to reach them. Is there something you can do to get there faster? Is the goal something you are no longer interested in achieving? Have you achieved this goal even though it doesn't look like you thought it would? These are all great questions to ask yourself. Re-evaluating your goal also helps you stay on track and keeps your goals in the front of your mind. 

+ Be consistent.

The most important thing in reaching goals is to be consistent and never quit! One pitfall that keeps people from reaching their goals is they are not consistent.  When I had clients who were failing to lose weight it was because they reported to me that they workout "sometimes", and ate healthy "most" of the time. They had not been sticking to the plan I made for them. If you serious about a goal but you aren't constantly working to reach your goals you may never reach them. Consistency is key.

I believe that if you include these steps in your goal setting process, you will also be setting yourself up for success in finally reaching your goals.
