I love trying all the programs so now I am on to a new one the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide. I finished up the Jillian Michaels BODYSHRED program and I even got certified in it. Now I am ready for a new challenge because I can never get enough ;). I started the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide last week but I missed two days because of Thanksgiving festivities so I started over yesterday. So far I am really enjoying the program and I feel like it is something I can do for a long time as well as repeat over and over again once I finish it.

Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide

The Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide consists of a 12-week program that includes, resistance training, cardio, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Low Intensity Steady State cardio (LISS). The program also incorporates rehabilitation days and rest days. She also offers a nutrition guide which I did not purchase. I currently follow the Tone It Up nutrition plan with a paleoish twist (no gluten, dairy and low sugar).

Green Smoothies great for a nutritional boost.

The workouts focus on total body, upper body and lower body days. Some moves are body weight only. I was actually pretty surprised at how challenging the first workout was. Each workout is about 28 minutes. You complete 4 seven minute circuits, you work through the exercises listed as many times as possible in that 7 minute time frame then move straight to the next circuit after a short break.

Some of the exercises you are doing are moves like squats, burpees, lunges, step ups on a bench, push-ups, triceps dips and more. The equipment you need for the workouts are dumbbells, a jump rope, a medicine ball, a mat and a foam roller for rehabilitation days. Having a place to run or a treadmill or bike is also helpful for cardio days.

I love circuit training so this program is right up my alley. The community of followers of this plan is huge, people seem to get some really good results when they follow the plan correctly.

My goals for this plan is to first, finish it. Second I'd like to gain some strength and endurance and tone up a little more before spring. Stay tuned on Wednesdays for more updates of my progress on the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide program.
