One Supplement I Can't Live Without
I'm not usually the one to jump on a supplement bandwagon, but lately, collagen supplements are all the rage and I'm all in! I first heard about collagen peptides at Blogfest where the brand Vital Proteins was a sponsor. They gave us a tub of it to try out and I didn't even think I would use it.
By the way, this post is NOT sponsored. I tried to reach out to the brand to work with them but no response, I just really like this stuff.
Eventually, I dusted off the canister and gave it a try. The first thing that I liked about this brand of collagen, in particular, was that it dissolved completely and is tasteless. For me, this means I can mix it into anything, smoothies, coffee, tea, whatever. I currently use it in my coffee 90% of the time. I have a scoop each morning in my coffee.
If you are anything like I was you may not know anything about collagen, well here's an excerpt from the Vital Proteins website:
WHAT IS COLLAGEN? Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body. It is a primary bulding block of skin, hair, nails, bones, tendons, joints, and cartilage. It is considered the "glue that holds the body together".
WHY DO WE NEED COLLAGEN? When we get older, the production of collagen begins to slow down and cell structures start losing their strength. Collagen provides the building blocks for skin, hair, tendon, cartilage, bones and joints. Supplementing with collagen is a vital way to help your body rejuvenate and stay youthful.
I am currently on my 4th canister of this stuff because I love it. It has done wonders for my hair and nails. I'm sure there are other benefits I am reaping from it but this is the one I have noticed the most.
As an example, the photo on the left is me at Blogfest July 2016 when I received the Vital Proteins collagen to try out. The photo on the right is from yesterday Feb 2017. I also had a haircut in between!
I also had my hair shaved pretty low on one side and now I can pull it back into a ponytail. So the proof is in the pudding, the stuff works ya'll!
I guess like they say about any supplement, check with your doctor before using it. Personally, I know that collagen will continue to be a part of my daily diet. Oh and I purchased mine on the Vital Proteins and Vitacost websites.
So friends, I just wanted to stop in and share this little "goldmine" with you. Let me know if you end up trying it out. Here's a video clip where I mention it in my favorites on YouTube also.
Have a great day!
