How I Started To Enjoy Writing My Blog Again
When I first started my website in 2014 (Petite Heartbeat at that time) I had no intention of making money from it or even knew that I could. After connecting with other bloggers and groups I found out that a personal website / blog could actually be a pretty big money maker. But even then I still didn't really have the desire to make money from it. I just wanted to share content that would help people and make me feel proud about it.
Fast forward to about a year or so into consistent blogging, I started being contacted by brands who were willing to pay me for writing content, something I already loved to do. Not only were they offering payment, they were also going to give me the free products to try and write about... say what?! It was at that time (2015) that I decided that making money from my blog sounded like a good idea after all.
After a lot of research and connecting, and joining blogging networks, I actually started getting some pretty good campaigns for my site. The extra spending money was great also. I soon came to realize that the more writing, posting, sharing and commenting I was doing, the more brand email offers I would receive, which equaled more money in my pocket.
Don't get me wrong, this was not a bad thing at all. But after awhile I was breaking my back to post 5 times a week just to "keep up". This started sucking the joy out of writing on my site which is never what I wanted.
When I rebranded to 'Ivanna Marie' at the end of 2016, I decided that I was going to go back to writing for the reason I started. To help people and to be proud of the content I create. If a brand deal comes along, great. However I am no longer breaking my back to post 5 days a week for page views. Nor am I posting content just to post, this goes for social media as well. Now I just post when I want to post and when I feel like I have something helpful to share. #feelinglight
Thankfully I am in a place in my life where the money I make from this blog won't make me or break me. By the grace of God I am doing alright. So now I just post content that I am passionate about and that I believe will add value to the lives of my readers. And that's alright.
